Hope all had a great Mothers Day. One thing to remember is that there are lots of Lady Fishers and that yours could become a great fishing companion if you work at it.

Trinity River Spring Flows are now on a steady drop going from 2,800cfs to 2,000cfs May 20^th. Suring this time we should be seeing a Spring run of fresh salmon coming up the Trinity. The problem being that the water flows will be to high for drifting but very good for the bank fishing if you can find a good place to work from that the water is not to high and will allow you a fair to good drift without a ton of lead to get you down to the bottom. You must remember that the Spring salmon move fairly fast and do not hold up for very long at any one place. Some of the better places to work from are where there are deep holes below swift water. You will have to work the slower water in this area and the bite will be suttle, not a hard take down. If you have it the best bail will be fresh cured roe. The next best would be a tuna/roe 50/50 mix tied in small Moline bags of about the size of a quarter. Some places I know are Cable Hole above the North Fork, Hell Hole below Pigeon Point, 18 mile Hole at the old homestead and the Falls area.

(Grays & Burnt Ranch) There are a couple of deep holes at the top of the Burnt Ranch area by the Transfer station but it is a long walk coming back out with a couple of salmon to carry. 
There are several things of importance going on about Trinity River fishing. One is that CDFW is in need of support letters and emails to continue monitoring adult salmoniod at the fish weirs (Willow Creek & Junction City) in order to maintain and track the fishery. They need our support in letters and emails to the CDFC (Commission) if we want to help maintain healthy fish runs. This is for both salmon and steelhead. As I have said before we need to keep track of the Coho salmon and make sure that the fishery continues to improve or it could go away. The emails and letters are needed by May 22, 2013.
 
The Mid-Klamath:  Weitchpec / Orleans area is blown out from the high water flows. 

Trinity River Flows and conditions: Trinity Lake is 22.1ft. (1.1ft increase) below the overflow and 87.6% of capacity (1.2% increase) at 1:00PM today. 
Inflow to the lake was 2,477cfs and dam releases are 6,410cfs to Lewiston Lake with 3,440cfs going to Whiskeytown Lake and then on to the Sacramento River at Keswick.     
 

Trinity River: Lewiston Dam releases are 2,970cfs water temps 47.7, air is 80 degrees and water temps at the Hatchery is 47.7 degrees. Limekiln Gulch is 7.3ft at 3,120cfs, Douglas City is 9ft at 2,930cfs, water temps 49.9 air is 79. Junction City is 5ft at 3,470cfs.  Helena is 13.9ft at 3,580cfs with water at 51.9. Cedar Flat is 8.1ft at 4,090cfs. Willow Creek is estimated at 48540cfs, air 85, and water 55. Hoopa is 15.9ft at 5,130cfs, water temps 60 degrees. Mouth of the Trinity at the Klamath is 6,673cfs.
 

Klamath: Iron Gate Dam releases are 1,190cfs. Seiad Valley is 4.1ft at 2,880cfs. Happy Camp estimated at 3,100cfs. Somes Bar estimated at 5,960cfs. Orleans is 6ft at 6,160cfs. Klamath at 101 is 12.2ft at 12.6K cfs & water temps of 63.8 degrees. Smith River is 6.2.ft at 910cfs. 
Temperatures in the Valley last week were 91/46 degrees with 0.6 inches of rain, total to date 53.9 inches.
